Gucci Mane Shall Be Released Soon.
Gucci Mane dodged a bullet in court last week. The Atlanta rapper, who is currently imprisoned on misdemeanor battery charges, will be released from Georgia's Fulton County Jail and complete his probation by the end of June, his publicist confirmed for MTV News.
"Gucci, appeared in a Fulton County courtroom on Monday afternoon and in less than an hour, our attorney Mark Issa prevailed. Gucci will not only be released in 45 days, but will also end his probation by the last days of June upon his release from jail. Gucci looks forward to getting back into the studio and on with his life. Gucci thanks all his fans for the overwhelming love and support they have given."
The "Lemonade" rapper was arrested on April 8 and charged with a misdemeanor count of battery for allegedly pushing a woman out of his white Hummer on the morning of January 28. The 36-year-old victim claimed that she entered the rapper's vehicle at the South DeKalb Mall when Gucci Mane approached her and asked her to join him for breakfast. Gucci then allegedly offered the woman $150 to "go to the hotel." When she refused, she claimed she was pushed out of the moving vehicle by the rapper.
The charges were just another in a series of run-ins with the law for Gucci. In May 2005, the rapper was tied to the shooting death of Henry Lee Clark III. Those charges were dropped a year later by the DeKalb County D.A.
It was a separate 2005 incident that initially landed Gucci in jail. After he pleaded no contest to aggravated assault for attacking a club promoter, the "So Icey" MC was sentenced to six months, followed by probation.
