It was a long fight, but in the end, a judge has given Buju Banton a ten year sentence for conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine, as well as another drug trafficking offense and a gun charge – all stemming from a 2009 arrest. Aside from immediately appealing the sentence, Banton’s attorney David Markus also made the request to have Buju serve his sentence in a prison near Miami so that he could be close to family. No word if the request will be fulfilled, but following his release, he must deal with five years of probation as well.
