NBA fans can boo him all they want, but according to Forbes, Lebron James is one of the most powerful celebrities in the world. Last week, Forbes released their annual ranking of the most powerful celebrities in the world, and for the first time, James made the top ten list.
The list is composed of 100 powerful celebrities around the world and measures entertainment related earnings as well as media visibility. Earnings, press mentions, twitter and Facebook followers are all taken into account when being ranked.
The “King” takes his seat behind #6 Tiger Woods, as the highest rated athlete on the Top 100. In 2010 James ranked 29th on the list, and he is 1 of 19 athletes to make the top 100 list in 2011. Add to the fact that Mr. James’ #6 Miami Heat jersey is currently ranked #1 in jersey sales in the league and his signature Nike’s are selling in record breaking numbers.
Lady Gaga, Oprah, and Justin Bieber, top the list at numbers 1,2 and 3. Forbes reports L.J’s yearly earnings to be $48 Million.
