Romeo Joins "Dancing With The Stars" To Promote Education

Romeo has joined the cast of "Dancing With the Stars" and while his goal is to take home top honors on the popular show, the rapper/actor will be dancing for a cause.

Romeo is planning to use the national attention from being on "Dancing with The Stars" to promote education and encourage viewers of all races and ages to earn their high school diploma, to combat the drop out rate.

According to stats, 3 out of ten high school students will dropout before earning their diploma. The rate is even higher amongst underprivileged African-Americans and Latinos.

"This is a great opportunity for me to get the message out that we have to save our children, it is not okay that we have this happening in America," Romeo told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "Without an education, you choices are limited.

"Unfortunately, teens lose enormous earning potential by not getting a high school diploma," Romeo continued. "Dropouts earn $9,200 less per year than high school graduates and more than $1 million less over a lifetime than college graduates. Reducing the dropout rate not only makes sense for individual students, it also makes strong economic sense for the nation."

Romeo Miller has sold over 10 million records worldwide and was star of the hit Nickelodeon TV show "Romeo!"

He will participate in the 12 season of "Dancing with The Stars," which will also feature Wendy Williams, Chris Jericho, Kendra Wilkinson, Kirstie Alley, Chelsea Kane and Romeo's partner, Chelsie Hightower.
