Throwback Thursday: The Two Songs which helped make @JcoleNC's "Work Out"

This may not come of as "news" to you if you are a hip hop/music head, but for the readers that aren't we just wanna give you a heads up on the background of "Work Out" J Cole's heavily criticized single off of his debut album.

J. Cole's first single off of his debut album "Cole World: Sideline Story" had many mixed reviews as to if it was enough for him to do good numbers on the charts. Some say he should've picked "In The Morning" with Drake or "You Got It" with Wale but of course J Cole probably wouldn't of wanted it to seem as if he needed help on his 1st single. Either way, the more and more I listen to this track the more i like the beat, the catch chorus, the bridge, everything. And with most songs these days, they come from other classic songs. If you were born in the early 90's then you probably purchased and/or loved Kanye's College dropout CD, and one of the more laid back and fun tracks on the cd was the workout plan. J Cole takes a little sample from the end of the song and adds it to the beginning of his. (I want J Cole and Kanye to collaborate on a song with just them two by the way). And If your mom was born in the late 60's, early 70's she probably was a Paula Abdul fan, so J Cole borrows the chorus from Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" and makes it the bridge on this single. Check out the songs below.

Paula Abdul - Straight Up -1988

Kanye West - The Workout Plan -2004
